the scientific name would seem mean something about armor and segments, is that what you meant? Looks wonderful, and i'm glad you started a blog.
That's absolutely correct. I'm a bit red-faced now, as I chose the name when I did the painting, which was well before Google (yes, I'm that old).
No doubt I found the name in some book. The name I wnated to use was that of the typical Roman legionary's style armor (the one with overlapping plates familiar from Asterix).
Google now teaches me that it should have been 'Lorica segmentata'. Sorry if I put you on the wrong foot...
