The best way to use such multiple additive waves is probably when the cloakfish has to to do delicate manoeuvring, such as when it is braking or when one side has to counter a current. In straightforward swimming the additions may not be necessary (squid seem to only use such trickery when circumstances are changing).

Panel: yes! I'm not sure I like the aesthetic affect of combining the two wave amplitudes. To me it makes the fins seem like they're flapping loosely rather than propelling the cloakfish. The model itself and the environment is cool to see, though!

Do you suppose that there would be a tendency for cloakfish membranes to develop into wing-like flippers? I can imagine derived cloakfish being aquatic analogues of the tetropters.

Spugpownoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5821098719340852065.post-138396785103370642015-12-31T12:00:10.721+01:002015-12-31T12:00:10.721+01:00Emily: thank you!Emily: thank you!Sigmund Nastrazzurrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449461215427527447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5821098719340852065.post-30669783068810490212015-12-28T04:49:40.902+01:002015-12-28T04:49:40.902+01:00Gorgeous!Gorgeous!Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03968539146840489973noreply@blogger.com
